Reading

This half term we will be finishing off 'Wonder' and then after that we will be reading a murder mystery 'The Case of the Drowned Pearl' by Robin Stevens. We will be reading and following suspicious activity and clues to find out which suspect it could be. We will be using vocabulary from this book to create our own murder mysteries in writing.

Science

Our unit this half term is about the human lifecycle. This will include comparing plant and human lifecycles. puberty changes and reproductive systems, sex education and life expectancies. This topic runs alongside the PSHE/ RSE topics about body changes and relationships. We are supported in the delivery of this by Rachael Shaw, our school nurse.

Geography

In Geography, we will be looking at natural disasters, the structure of the earth, tectonic plates, eathquakes and volcanoes. We also learn about grid references for locating places on maps and globes.

RE

RE will answer the question

How do religious and non-religious people make moral and ethical decisions ?

PE

Monday we will be doing athletics and on Tuesday we will be doing hockey.

DT

In DT, we will be using woodwork skills to create a model of a Viking house. We will learn how to cut wood using a hacksaw and join the pieces to make a strong frame. This will be group collaborative work and will take place after SATs when we can dedicate a whole day to the project.

Homework

There will be no additional creative homework project this half term as we are aware that many children will be doing extra SATs revision at home.

Reading at home is especially important to help children practise sustained quiet concentration and focus which is an essential skill for tackling the SATs tests.
