As a school we consider attendance and punctuality to be an essential component to a child’s academic success. We want to work closely with families and to support them in helping to improve attendance wherever possible. We are aware from feedback given by parents that often the number of days that pupils are absent accumulate without parents realising how many days have been missed and that regular attendance updates would be useful. Therefore we will be monitoring attendance at least every half term and provide regular updates to parents to keep them informed of their child’s attendance.
Any attendance that falls below 95% is a concern as children are starting to miss a considerable amount of school and could easily fall into the persistently absent bracket (less than 90% attendance). Absence at this level is doing considerable damage to any child’s educational prospects and wellbeing, and we need parents’ fullest support and co-operation to tackle this.
