Music at Oldswinford
‘Music is an outburst of the soul’ – Fredrick Delius
Through the study of music at Oldswinford C.E. Primary School we intend to emphasise the need for enjoyment and pleasure of the subject with children being given as much scope as possible to develop their musical skills, knowledge and understanding through the curriculum. In order to develop musical capability in children, we intend to teach a balance of composing, performing, listening and appraising activities. We also intend to use music as a vehicle for other areas such as driving academic achievement, encouraging community cohesion and nourishing spiritual development.
“Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.”
