Welcome to the Junior Leadership Team's web page
The Junior Leadership Team is made up of 2 children from each year group: Freya and Joseph (Y6), Luna and William (Y5), Skylar and Esther (Y4) and Penelope and Sophie (Y3). To earn our places on the team, we had to think of a creative way to show our class mates why we were the best person for the role. The class then had a vote to select who would be a representative from our class. It is our job to think of ways to improve our school and surroundings.
We meet every half term to discuss whole school issues with Miss Barrows and she takes our suggestions to the Senior Leadership Team too, so that they know what we're up to and we can pose lots of questions for them too! We have been given books to write ideas in, that have been shared in class, to bring to our meetings.
In 2022, we thought of ways to improve our school and lots of things happened in result of our conversations: the KS2 shed and ICT table legs were fixed; we helped get computers fixed by getting a board in our ICT suite to note down issues and we spoke to our classes about keeping our hall cleaner at lunch times. We were also asked our opinion on other things: we wrote to the council in response to a letter about an electrical car charging point in Field Lane and we also asked if we were able to watch the England match in the World Cup, which we all did.
In 2023, we were asked to help Mrs Seker to take part in a worship on Democracy - one of the British Values. After a conversation, we have all got rotas on the playground for playground equipment and we have asked for teachers to look at times they take their children to lockers so there is not as much of a crowd.
So far in 2024-25 we have made improvements around school: we have asked Mr Potter to fix little jobs in the toilets, such as creaking doors or locks that were stiff; we have spray painted arrows on the playground stairs so that parents can go in one direction so that it stops congestion at home time; with the help of the PTA, we have ordered new bins for food waste and recycling.
Community Meetings
In March 2025, we held a School Council Conference. Nine schools were present in total: Redhill Secondary, Pedmore High, Amblecote Primary, Pedmore Primary, Gigmill Primary, The Ridge Primary, Ham Dingle Primary and Oldswinford Primary.
We were very lucky to have our local MP, Cat Eccles, come and talk at the conference about the issues we have with air pollution and how they monitor air pollution in our local area. We learned lots about how we can help our environment and came away with practical, quick solutions that we can do to make a difference.
