What is Dyscalculia?
Dyscalculia is a specific and persistent difficulty in understanding numbers which can lead to a diverse range of difficulties with mathematics.

Identification & Support
If children continue to present with long-standing barriers in maths that have not been impacted by Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision (such as task boards, memory aids, pre-teaching of maths vocabulary, additional concrete resources or specific intervention programmes) we can carry out a dyscalulia screening tool. This is not diagnostic, but will provide an indication of whether the child has a profile similar to that of someone with dyscalulia. The report also provides us with specific areas of difficulty which can result in further support and targeted intervention.
Children at OCEPS can be diagnosed with Dyscalculia either privately or through referral to the Learning Support Service. However, with or without diagnosis, school identify children who have barriers in maths and offer the necessary support to meet their needs.
