  • Two Magical Concerts, One Special Teacher

Tue 26 Mar 2019 Mrs Jo Seker
Having just returned from the second of our celebration concerts this evening, I'm feeling truly humbled yet incredibly proud of our school community.

The children's music and voices filled the rafters of St. Mary's with love and joy as they paid tribute to our much-loved and missed Mrs Clarke.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 delivered the cute factor this afternoon, whereas KS2 tugged on our heartstrings this evening. The talent and dedication of the staff inspired the children to perform many songs from Mrs Clarke's repertoire with such gusto. What a superb job they did!

Both performances were made extra special, having been attended by Mrs Clarke's husband Marc and her daughter Rachel; Marc's closing words were a perfect ending.

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone for their support. The generosity of our school community never ceases to amaze me. As I mentioned in church, we sold over £2000 worth of tickets; that added to the £500+ from the collection at Christmas plus an estimated £500 collections today means we have made a fantastic start to raising the £10k needed to fund equipment for the outdoor musical memorial garden. Please keep your fingers crossed that our lottery bid will be successful in funding the remaining amount. For anyone who was unable to make the performance but would still like to donate, the school office will continue to accept your kind donations.

For those of us who were blessed to know Mrs Clarke, her memory will live on in our hearts and even for those who didn't know her, you will be blessed in many ways by the legacy she leaves at Oldswinford.

Please join me in sending a prayer of thanks for this wonderful lady and her amazing family.
  • Parents' Evenings- Thanks & Celebration

Fri 15 Mar 2019 Mrs Jo Seker
Our two Parents' Evenings this week have been a great success. The atmosphere around school was positive and vibrant, with staff and parents both receiving great feedback. Having the children's work available to view on the same night has been well-received.

Thank you to everyone who attended and a special thanks to all the staff for your commitment and dedication.
  • Music Concerts

Fri 15 Mar 2019 Mr Pardoe

Just as a reminder as tickets are selling fast...

On Monday 25th March, the children are going to be performing in 1 of 2 special music concerts at St Mary’s Church, in order to raise money for a Music Memorial Garden in memory of Mrs. Clarke. KS1 children will be taking part in a concert during the afternoon, starting at 2pm and then children in KS2 will take part in a concert during the evening, starting at 6:30pm. Both concerts will last around 1 hour. As this is a fundraising event, we will be selling tickets at £5 each.

Tickets will only be available to purchase online. If you would like to order any tickets, please log on to your Parentmail account, select Payments, click on the Shop icon, then select the tickets you would like to purchase and proceed to checkout.

If you have children in both key stages, we are more than happy for you to have a ticket for both concerts at the same price of £5 – please just indicate this on the online payment module to ensure you get a ticket for each event.

    Many thanks,

  • St Patrick's Celebrations

Fri 15 Mar 2019 Mr Pardoe
Today we had a brilliant assembly hosted by the House Captains of St Patrick’s House. Dylan and Jasper did a fantastic job of explaining to us all about why St Patrick was so important and why so many people make sure they celebrate his life every year on the 17th March.

Thank you to the Year 6 boys and to Mrs McVeigh!
  • Giving Hands

Fri 08 Mar 2019 Mrs Jo Seker

Congratulations Year 2 for being the first year group to fill your basket for the Giving Hands mission. I shall be delighted to drop off your donations this weekend! You have earned yourselves 2 “Giving Hands” dojos each!

Each year group has their own basket for collecting donations. The Visionaries group decided that it was important to support the food bank all year round and not just at Harvest time.

It’s great to see our school vision, ethos and values in action.

  • St David's Day

Fri 01 Mar 2019 Mr Pardoe
    Happy St David's Day!

It's been great seeing lots of children from St David's house around school in their yellow clothes today.

Thanks to our St David's House Captains and Mrs Bond who hosted a fantastic, quiz show style assembly this morning in order to teach us all about St David and why we celebrate this special day. Each class also received a bunch of daffodils to brighten up their classrooms and the hall was decorated with lots of St David's flags.

    A fantastic day of celebrating!
Believe, achieve and shine brighter together.
