Welcome to Year 6
Autumn term 2020
We are really looking forward to working with you this term.
Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday but we may be going outside to make the most of our learning environment so please ensure you have PE kit available in school every day.
Our topic this half term is the Ancient Greeks. We will have lots of fun learning about gods and goddesses, myths and monsters and using this in English lessons to produce some exciting writing.
We will be exploring the Ancient Greeks in many of our subjects including art where we will be designing and making our own clay pots and dance which will focus on the Olympic Games.
In Science we will be learning about electricity and making lots of different circuits.
Keep a regular eye on our Class Dojo page for regular updates about our work.
In year 6, we encourage all pupils to undertake weekly homework tasks to develop their learning and prepare them for secondary school.Topic homework- we like to set one task each half term which allows the pupils to do some research and use their creativity to present their work in their individual style. This could include a Powerpoint, poster, Lego model, animation, picture/ painting, 3D model, wordsearch, quiz, song, baking. (Projects can be brought into school or photographed and shared with us on Dojo.)
For this half term's creative task we would like the children to find out the names of the 12 main Greek gods and goddesses and present their findings. This will be due to be completed by October 12th.
Pupils will be given individual log in information so they can access the following sites from home on computers, tablets or phones. Many have a free App for easy access.
These can be used at any time but we will also set specific tasks that need to be completed at certain times.
