Our topic this half term is...
Famous people - Vincent Van Gogh
In our English lessons we will continue to add more detail to our sentences, using adjectives and conjunctions to try and up-level our work. Our focus will be using 2A sentences to describe nouns. We will also be using similes and alliteration within our work. As part of our talk 4 writing we will be writing our own stories based on the book, 'Camille and the Sunflowers'. We will be writing our own stories based on this book, thinking of different famous people arriving in a town, who may not be appreciated for their talents, just as Vincent Van Gogh wasn’t. As this is an art based topic we will be doing lots of creative masterpieces, influenced by Vincent Van Gogh’s artwork. When we have created a few pieces each we will write short description to be displayed underneath our artwork and will hold an art gallery opening, where others can come and look at our masterpieces. We will be carrying out lots of research to find facts about Vincent Van Gogh, and will be putting it into an information booklet about the author. Just before our art gallery is due to open, we will write information booklets about ourselves, so that guests know a little bit about the artists behind the work. As this topic is about talents, we thought it would be a great opportunity to celebrate our uniqueness and display our talents to one another in a mini talent show.
In Maths we will contine to look at place value and the four main number operations, but our focus will be, position and direction, mass, height and length. We will be learning different methods to help us problem solve and we will have the opportunity to do lots of workings out practically. We will also continue developing our reasoning skills as we question answers and prove our findings.
