Grab Bags

Our topic this half term is...

'Ice, ice baby'

In our English lessons we will be starting to add more detail to our sentences, using adjectives and conjunctions to try and up-level our work. Our focus will be using 2A sentences to describe nouns. We will also be using similes and alliteration within our work. As part of our talk 4 writing we will be writing our own stories based on the well known fantasy story, 'The Snowman and The Snowdog.'  This is a wonderful book with fantastic images and accompanying music. We will be working on the text in great detail, through story telling actions and role play too. It is a fantastic opportunity for the children to use their imagination, creativity and set their creative flair free! It is a great way to extend their vocabulary and really shine through their work! After we have written our own stories we will be moving onto instruction writing and thinking about time connectives and imperative verbs.

We will also be looking closely at cold countries and climates, various animals that live there and how they survive in such chilly conditions.

In Maths we will contine to look at place value, addition and subtraction, but we will be focusing on multiplication, division, shape and fractions. We will be learning different methods to help us problem solve and we will have the opportunity to do lots of workings out practically. We will also continue developing our reasoning skills as we question answers and prove our findings.
