St. Mary's Church

"I like visiting St. Mary's because it's peaceful. When we did the harvest experience it made me think

about people without food and how I could help them." TS, age 8

We have a very supportive partnership with St Mary's Church Old Swinford.Children make educational visits to the church as part of their curriculum work. The Priest in Charge, Revd Agnew, visits school regularly to contribute to assemblies, and the Open The Book team visit every two weeks to present Bible stories in assembly. The whole school visits the church at Christmas for our Carol Service and the Year 6 children visit in July for their leavers' service.

Children are encouraged to join in with our 'Open The Book' presentations. We retell Bible stories through drama and story.

"Open The Book assemblies help us understand the meaning of Bible stories in a fun way.

I like joining in." AE, age 9.
